“We live in a city that people have tried to write off time and time again, it’s the survival mechanism, we are great survivors, we have learned how to survive, it’s that thing that makes us who we are… spirit of survival!”
Welcome to the autumn 2017 – 3rd birthday special issue of City Life Dundee magazine. We can’t quite believe it’s been three years since we dared to dream and launch City Life back in 2014. Our first front cover and major interview that fateful autumn was with Hollywood actor Brian Cox, born and bred in Stobswell, and here we are three years later pinching ourselves that we have put together one of our best ever celebrations of creative and inspirational Dundonians. Brian Cox was spot on in his quotation above, from that time; Dundonians really do have a spirit of survival. So, come on inside this birthday special and meet a whole array of inspirational Dundonians who dared to dream, and have lived and breathed that survival spirit and transformed themselves, just like Brian Cox did, from their humble beginnings into creative success.
Join Ged Grimes and Jim Kerr of Simple Minds on their Acoustic world tour in Music Life. Meet Danny Wilson’s Gary Clark who sings like an angel, live at Edinburgh Castle. Be creatively inspired by Dave McLean, Kit Clark, Saint Andrew, Kyle Falconer, Dave Bowman, Kevin McCabe, Steve Merton, Gary Robertson and a whole gallery of dreamers and Schemers behind one of Dundee’s most ambitious movie projects ever. Parade the fashion catwalk with Irving Miskell-Reid, the passion behind Face of Freedom 2017.
