Night Life – The City After Dark

HMS Unicorn at night

Dundee is a great place to spend the night, with numerous quality central hotels to take care of the overnight business visitor or long stay holidaymaker- Apex Hotel & Spa, Holiday Inn Express and of course the exciting new Mal Maison Hotel with its luxurious and stylish surroundings and great food! More hotel projects are planned over the coming years so it would seem that with the V&A museum just around the corner that big corporate brands have confidence that Dundee is about to become a hot spot of tourism. With that comes the demand for quality nightlife.

They are certainly not going to be short of quality nightlife when they arrive, as Dundee already has the best of venues to offer any culture seeking visitor. We have great cultural hotspots within the City Centre, City Quay, Perth Road and West Port to choose from. There are entertainment venues galore with the Dundee Rep Theatre, the Whitehall Theatre, the Dundee Contempoary Arts Centre and Caird Halll all offering varied entertainment programmes. Also visitors are spoiled for choice with an international array of places to eat whether it’s a taste of Bengal at Dil’se on the Perth Road, a flavour of Italy at Bellini’s on Commercial Street or a pre-theatre taste of Scotland at the Encore Bar and Brasserie in The Dundee Rep Theatre.

The Dundee Rep TheatreLive music then warmly welcome visitors in great venues such as Clarkes pn Lindsay Street or Number 57 on Dock Street, next to City Quay. Various other bars and clubs then await, depending on the mood. You can even visit the newly opened Brew Dog next to the McManus galleries to taste some authentically crafted homemade Scottish beers. Frankly the list is endless and we will uncover more Dundee hotspots for you in coming months. It is sometimes easy to forget how lucky we are to have all this culture on our doorstep…

Put you in the mood for going out? Don’t worry you don’t have to book a hotel because we already live in this amazing hotbed of culture so maybe see you this weekend at Clarkes on Lindsay Street for a drink, now open until 2.30am Friday and Saturday!
